I came looking for acting techniques and found myself instead. This workshop gave me permission to be vulnerable.

Frank T, London

The character I created became a mirror for parts of myself I'd been ignoring. I left feeling reconnected to my own voice.

Eve N, London

I expected performance anxiety, but found safety and play. For the first time, I truly learned to listen.

“Oltre la scena” means both beyond the stage and beyond appearances: a place where we step outside performance and begin to inhabit what is real.

ABOUT ME

My name is Alessandra, and I began my journey in theatre in Shanghai, where I trained at an English-language acting school. In a city so far from Italy, I discovered how powerfully theatre can build bridges between different languages and cultures.

I later moved from acting to directing and founded what would become the first Italian-language theatre company in all of China. With the support of the Italian Cultural Institute, we brought works from the Italian repertoire to Chinese stages, using English and Mandarin subtitles to make our theatrical tradition accessible to an international audience. Within a few years, we became one of the most sought-after companies in Shanghai and beyond.

After relocating to London, I earned a degree in Psychology. It was there that I came to deeply understand how closely theatre and psychology are connected: both explore the human experience, emotions, and relationships. From this insight, my workshops were born, and I began leading them in collaboration with several psychotherapy practices in London.

After many years abroad, I chose to return to Italy. Today, I bring with me the experience shaped between East and West, continuing to guide pathways where theatre and personal growth meet.

THE METHOD

Experiential Workshops in Small Groups

Hi, I’m Alessandra, and I don’t teach acting.
I use tools from theatre to create safe, welcoming spaces where people can rediscover the pleasure of movement, self-listening, imagination, and giving voice to what often goes unspoken..

I’ve been leading these workshops for many years, and I continue to witness the same quiet magic: people who arrive on their own or as couples gradually open up through play and imagination, discovering a sense of trust that goes beyond words. I’ve seen friendships form in a single evening and last for years. I’ve seen people who believed they had nothing to say find their voice. I’ve seen tense bodies soften, and eyes that once avoided each other begin to truly meet.

What I observed in the studio led me to explore these experiences more deeply: what happens within us when we share a creative space? How do genuine connections emerge? This is why I went on to earn a degree in psychology. Through this journey, I discovered that theatre and psychology speak the same language — and that when theatre is freed from the pressure of performance, it becomes a space for authentic connection and personal transformation.

It doesn't happen because we force it. It happens because when we allow ourselves to be present, vulnerable, playful - without needing to prove anything - authentic connection occurs naturally.

My workshops weave these two worlds together to create this space: a safe place where you can explore yourself and, often without realising it, find others too.

No theatre experience necessary. Just the curiosity to discover what emerges when you allow yourself to truly be there.

WORKSHOPS

  • A first taste of theatre as a space for personal exploration

This two-hour workshop is for those who wish to slow down, listen to themselves and meet others in a welcoming, non-judgemental space.

    No theatre experience is needed.

    You don’t have to act.

You don’t have to prove anything.

It is a space where you can simply be.

    How the workshop unfolds:

The session begins with a short introduction in which I share the meaning behind the work I offer and the context it comes from, to create a safe and understandable foundation for everyone. We will then explore three areas together:

    The body

Through simple, guided movement exercises, you will explore a slower, more mindful way of inhabiting your body. There is nothing to “do well”: this is about listening, not performing.

    The voice
Starting from the breath, you will explore the voice as an authentic form of expression, without having to speak in front of the group. Many exercises take place gradually, in a circle or in pairs.

    Imagination and writing
Through a short-guided imagery exercise, you will come into contact with inner images, which you can then express through writing. Sharing is always optional.

Throughout the workshop, we alternate between individual moments, pair work and group activities.

Every proposal is an invitation, never an obligation: you can also take part simply by listening.

    Who is this workshop for?

This session is for you if:

    • you feel shy or uncomfortable in groups

    • you are not looking for an acting class, but for an experience of presence

    • you want a context where you don’t have to prove anything

    • you would like to meet people in an authentic way

    • you are looking for something light yet meaningful

    • you feel the need to slow down

The exercises are simple and accessible to everyone, regardless of age or experience. Often, in these spaces, sincere and unexpected connections arise because people meet without masks.

What will you take with you?

    • A concrete understanding of how body, voice and imagination can become tools for listening

    • The experience of a more authentic presence, with yourself and with others

    • A first contact with body, voice and imagination as tools for self-awareness

    • The discovery that you don’t need to “know how to act” to have a meaningful experience

    • A protected space where you can simply be

    Duration: 2 hours
    Price: 30€

    This workshop is an invitation:
If you feel something begin to move, it can be the start of a longer journey.

  • When the theatre stops being a stage and becomes an inner territory

Four sessions of two hours, once a week, over one month. A space where you do not perform, but explore.
Where body, voice and imagination become tools to rediscover parts of yourself that everyday life often keeps hidden.

The journey we will take together:

First session (2 hours) - The Character

We will allow a character to emerge from your imagination. Not a role to play, but a presence that carries emotions, desires and vulnerabilities you recognise as your own. Through guided visualisations, movement and writing, we bring this character out of silence. This character becomes your companion on the journey,  a doorway to what you do not always manage to express.

Second session (2 hours) - Voice and Word

Your character finds their voice, and you discover that voice is not just sound, but vibration born in the body, emotion taking shape. Together we explore the passage from breath to sound, from sound to word. And suddenly you sense that the character has something to tell you — something that may have been waiting for a long time.

Third session (2 hours) - Relationship and Listening

Your character encounters others. Here you discover that true connection grows from listening: to yourself, to your body, to the presence of others. We explore what happens when you move within relationships without defences, when you allow yourself to be seen. Characters recognise one another, avoid one another, seek one another, and you begin to notice how you move within relationships.

Fourth session (2 hours) - Scenic Presence

This is not about staging a performance. It is about giving visible form to everything that has emerged, within a space where you can be fully yourself. Together, we will create small improvisations to celebrate the journey taken. It is a moment of freedom, play and mutual recognition, the discovery that when you stop trying to prove something, you are finally free to express yourself.

What do you take with you?

    • A concrete method for accessing less visible parts of yourself through imagination and the body

    • A deeper capacity to listen to yourself and to others

    • The experience of belonging to a group where connection is genuine

    • Practical tools (breath, movement, voice, writing) that will continue to live with you beyond the workshop

    • The discovery that theatre is not performance, but a territory where you can be fully yourself

    Who is this journey for?

This path is for anyone who feels the need to slow down, to rediscover a space of authenticity, to explore their creativity without pressure. No previous theatre experience is required: only the willingness to engage with curiosity and openness.

    Price: 200€
